Notice What's Right!

Faith Ralstan Sounds simple doesn't it? But how many times in the last six months did you or your team talk about what was going right? When we pay attention to something - it grows. Yet most of the time we don't pay attention to what's working well.

At the beginning of each day ask yourself, "What do I want to go right today?" At the end of the day ask yourself, "What went right today?" What do I feel great about accomplishing?" - include positive interactions, accomplishments, decisions, and ideas.

In team meetings, invite each person to share an accomplishment they had during the week. Simply ask, "What went right for you this week?" Encourage everyone to think of one thing and share it. You'll be amazed at the results. Sharing successes generates positive energy and the desire to create more successes.

Notice all kinds of successes. It's great that your latest project was completed on time, but it's also important to notice when you feel great about helping someone out; making a decision that turns out right; having a positive customer experience or coming up with a new idea.

At the end of the day over supper, my Father often shared stories about the people and activities he was involved with that day. I have forgotten most of what he said, but I can still remember the light that sparkled in his eyes when he talked about the people he had truly helped that day.

Taking time to share what's going right in your world helps you focus on the positive. Notice how your enthusiasm rises. Spend a few moments reflecting each day about great moments. Share with a friend. Soon you'll discover even more great things start to happen. I guarantee this simple practice will change your life.
